Sema Bicik was born in Osmaniye, Adana in 1959. She entered Ankara Gazi University Department of Painting in 1977. She attended Istanbul Fine Arts Academy in 1979, and graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 1985.

She worked for three years on her “Gallipoli” collection, which consists of one 10.50 meters and 19 distinctive paintings, commemorating the Gallipoli Campaign. She received "Australian Embassy Prize" at the 2007 Gallipoli Art Prize Competition for her surrealist style epic work called "Chunuk Bair."

In addition to painting, she also worked in the fashion textile industry. She paints in surrealist style and continues her work at her Beyoglu and Kanlica studios in Istanbul.
